Badminton
On the 4th of August 2011 us students from Room 22 had a game session after our Friday assembly.
Once we headed out to badminton was we had to sit down and hear the coach introducing herself and some things we knew about her was her name was Laureen and plays in the Auckland badminton club. once she was finished being introduced to us we were all ready to play our first activity and that was: control the shuttle.
What we done to control the shuttle was to focus on the shuttle by hitting it softly with the racket and for the shuttle to not land on the floor.
The second activity we had done was to hit the shuffle into the bucket. It was kind of difficult to hit it in but it was worth a try. On that same activity Laureen told us that it was a competition between the half of the circle we made. The competition that was done for us was we had to see how much people on the half of the side or our side to hit as many shuffles into the bucket so we counted by shouting/yelling out how many they got in.
The next activity was we had to grab a partner,a cone, a shuffle and a racket. My partner had to grab the cone and the shuffle and well i had to grab the racket. What our partner had to do with the shuffle and cone was he/she had to throw the shuffle and aim for the person holding the racket for it to hit it and for the partner holding the cone to catch the shuffle into the cone.
And finally the last activity for our Friday morning. In our partners we needed two rackets for my partner and me and one shuttle. This last activity we had done was slightly like our other last session but without a cone. The simplest thing we had to do was I had to throw the shuttle to the other partner and my partner had to hit it under her legs.
It was really good to know about some sport i haven't even done.
Thank you Laureen.

My highlight for this term
My highlight for this term was making prototypes for the senior block design process, plus working hard at making my writing make sence. Another thing that reminded me of is learning my mihi mihi from a task that was given to our students in Room 22 to re read it for in the mornings. I would hope to work on at getting good marks for my report next term.
Emilee the design process for designing furniture for the street.
In this session the whole senior block had found a solution to make our street more interesting so...... this is what we came up with, an idea to add furniture to the street so visitors or other members would see our wonderful street looking funky.
The first step we had to do on our design process was to identify a need. What our class had identified was that some students were’nt respecting the street so on the net we had to research a furniture that everyone would enjoy.
The next step after finishing research was to generate ideas. What we had generated was to modify the nets design to make it our own. Once we had rearranged the design was we had to find a solution to how it can be made and what it will be made out of.
When we had finished finding a solution the next step was to reflect on our own design. What we done for reflect was to make a prototype of our design to see what it would look like.
And finally the last step on our cycle,Evaluate, what we have to do for evaluate was to asses on how did i/we do from the past couple of weeks we’ve been doing on this interesting task.

Rugby League Session

On Wednesday 22nd June 2011 us,Room 22, Went out for a League session. We had a league session to try out our thrilling skills. We tried out our skills with one of a amazing person from the 2011 Vodafone junior warriors squad and his name was Sio.
Just before we were about to start the session with Sio we were put into a little group from 1 to 8 or 1 to 7 then we were ready to start.
The first lesson we did was in and out. In and out is running round the cones with a little rugby ball from the start to the end and sprinting back to the other person where they are waiting to have a turn.
The other lesson we did was zig zag. Zig zag is the same as in and out but we zig zaged around each players in our group.
The last lesson we did was rugby tennis. Rugby tennis is trying to kick the ball over the other teams shoulders letting them try to catch it.
When it was time to go we had one more round of tennis rugby and headed to our classroom with a great goodbye to Sio. It was a wonderful warm up for us to get our skills started and to participate in any sport for this term.

Science Roadshow

On the 9th of June 2011 us,Year 7s and 8s, walked to Tamaki Collage for a Science Roadshow for our topic this term(bigger better, faster, stronger). Before we headed off we were put into a small group so that our class students don't run off everywhere around the entire exhibits.
Once we got there we had a sit to listen to the people showing their presentation of science. When they had finished we headed off to a couple of inventions trying out different exhibit. The exhibit our group tested on was named Big Ear. Its like a satellite dish talking into it transferring the talking to a phone where someone is waiting to listen.
Another Presentation was called so we had another sit before it was time to go back to school. The scientists was talking about our senses. The senses we have are really good named eyes, ears, taste, smell and feel. Once it was time to go we said goodbye to the scientists(Jane and Paul)and we left. We were headed out into our group lines and started walking back to school. It was a good day for our school morning/afternoon.

The Design process
Why is generating ideas important?
generate ideas is important because its bringing different ideas to make a experiment.
we generate ideas to plan out some ideas making something creative.
the creative thing we do is using different material for a NO LITTER sign.
the material we use is metal, wood, paper, cardboard and others that i can’t even imagine.
In this process our class,Room 22, has been learning to do a sign for the students at our school to STOP LITTERING!
thats why up above I was talking about how generating ideas is super important.
In the year 7s and 8s classes we have a cycle going by 6 steps. the 6 steps are identify a need, research, generate ideas, find solutions, reflect and evaluate. So when we do all those wonderful 6 steps the are it finished for everyone to see.
In this need I would want to help everyone to pick up their rubbish when they need to.
