Jesse Owens Inspires Me.

Jesse Owens

Jesse Owens is the one who inspires me by his achievement in the olympic games by winning four gold medals in the 100m sprint , the long jump, the 200m sprint and last but not least the 4x100m relay team.

Owens was the youngest out of ten children and was born in Oakville, Alabama. Firstly, His real name is James Cleveland. At the age of 9, His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio for better opportunities. When his new teacher wanted his name, he spoke his initials ‘ J.C ‘ short for James Cleveland. With a strong southern accent Owens had, The teacher thought he said ‘ Jesse ‘. The name took, and he was known as Jesse for the rest of his life.

Owens worked for two different jobs within his spare time by working in a shoe repair shop, delivering groceries and loading freight cars. During the period of time, Owens discovered he had a passion for running. Throughout his life, he spent a lot of time on his athletic career to the encouragement of Charles Riley, His junior high track coach at the school, Fairmount Junior High School. Charles Riley allowed him to practice before school instead.

Owens had died in Tucson, Arizona on the date, March 31st, 1980. Many supporters wouldn’t forget of his athletic success.

I want to be like Jesse Owens because he never gives up on anything and
practice, practice, practice makes perfect.
